Class Overview

Do you ever wonder who your great-great-grandparents are, where some of your family is buried, where your family originated from, or what life was like a hundred or even two hundred years ago for some of your ancestors?  These are just some of the things we will be exploring in this genealogy class.  We will create our family trees (back several generations), trace the migration routes of ancestors, learn vocabulary words and study what genealogy means, interview family members, and research a specific family member and what life was like during that time period.  We will try to do some research in class (if the Wi-Fi works), but there will be some work and “digging” outside of class required.  Students will input their findings on a poster-sized family tree to take home at the end of the semester (nice enough to frame)!

Family history is absolutely fascinating and I can’t wait to share my passion and my own family’s story with this class!

*A workbook in a plastic sleeve will be provided with the class fee, along with a large family tree poster to take home at the end of the semester.  If students are able to bring a laptop or tablet to class, that would be helpful.

**This class would interest ages 12-16.
