Hunger Winter and Time For Courage are WW11 Novels we will be reading in class and some outside of class!  This is for boys and girls to embark on a Journey with Dirk and Anna as they give us insight into 1944 Netherlands.

Hunger Winter: In Late 1944, the Nazis have their sights set on expanding their empire by conquering the Dutch.  In response, 13 year old Dirk’s papa leaves everyone he loves behind to fight the Resistance.  After Dirk’s older sister is snatched away by the Gestapo, Dirk and Anna go out out on a frightening journey across the Netherlands to find their Father, and sister.

Time For Courage: When the Nazis Hunt Jewish Children, who can save them? 13 year old Dirk and his family dare to defy the Nazis by protecting  these imperiled kids.  But thwarting this evil menace requires them to risk everything! Based on historical facts and stepping into Dirk’s world , this family will be seeking to help the helpless, and finding safety for themselves wile bravely facing the overwhelming odds against them.

Purchase of both books is the fee.  $13.00 a piece .There will be Questions from a study guide to go along with reads this semester
