Class Overview
Logophiles are lovers of words and that’s what this class is all about! Whether you like learning new words, want to further enhance your vocabulary, or simply want to make your vernacular sound more impressive, this class is for you! Each week, students will come to class with five brand new words to share with the rest of the class. We will keep track of all these words on index cards kept in a small box. Plus, students will be challenged to use these words in everyday conversations and writing. Those who can show proof of using these words throughout the week (whether through a writing assignment or a video showing usage of these words) will earn points which will be redeemable for prizes on the last day of class. Students will be able to share about how they used these words with the rest of the class each week—so it gives students a chance to brush up on public speaking and maybe a bit of acting experience as well! This is sure to be a super fun class.
*Please note that the $5 fee is for prizes for the last day of class. Students will need to purchase their own index cards, index card box, and a-z file organizer separately prior to the first day of class.
