Untold Stories of History

Explore untold stories of history using the Futility Closet podcast.  Topics include stories such as a lion in Great Britain’s sewers, radium girls, surviving a fall through a thunderstorm in a parachute, a utopia in the middle of the rainforest, and a city in Pennsylvania that is literally burning underground.  Students will truly be amazed with some of these stories, which are also forgotten bits of history!  For the first three weeks of class, I will teach about several of these fascinating stories.  We will listen to the podcast story in class and then I will present additional information to the students, possibly including photographs and videos.  Then each student will have the chance to pick one of the podcasts from a list of predetermined episodes and do a bit of research to share with the class for that week’s untold history topic.
