Class Overview

Wild World of Art: Geography & World Cultures (Junior High)

Join us on an artistic adventure around the globe in Wild World of Art: Geography & World Cultures Part 2! In this exciting class, we’ll explore the vibrant cultures and diverse landscapes of Central and South America, Asia, and Australia through the lens of art.

As we journey through these regions, students will have the opportunity to create paintings and drawings inspired by famous landmarks, cultural traditions, and the unique beauty of each continent. From the ancient wonders of Machu Picchu to the breathtaking landscapes of the Australian Outback, students will dive into the artistic aspects of geography while gaining a deeper understanding of the countries and cultures they’re studying.

We’ll work with a variety of mediums, from watercolor to soft pastels, and watch a few short videos that bring each region’s history and culture to life. Plus, we may even take on a fun artistic mapping project, like creating topographical maps, to connect the artistic with the geographical.

By the end of this class, students will not only have a collection of beautiful artwork but will also gain a richer understanding of the world’s diverse cultures and landmarks—one brushstroke at a time! Whether you were with us last semester for Part 1 of this course or not, you are welcome to join in for Part 2.
