Storytime

We will read some fun, short chapter books and play some silly games.

High School American Literature

In this high school level literature course, we will focus on great literary works penned by American authors.  It would be a wonderful accompaniment to an American history course.  Using Progeny Press study guides, we will be reading and studying two American novels:  Red Badge of Courage by Stephen Crane (first half of the semester), and A Day No Pigs Would Die by Robert Newton Peck (second half of the semester).  We will also do some fun in-class activities to correspond with these novels.  I have used Progeny Press for years and I like how they are written from a Christian worldview and incorporate scripture verses with the novels students will be studying.  I will supply both novels and a printed study guide for each book inside a binder. (I will supply one binder with a clear front so you can swap out study guides when we switch novels.  If you were in class in the fall, you can just use the same binder.)

Students WILL be expected to come to class each week with their Progeny Press study guides completed and prepared to discuss in class.  Please do not sign up your student if homework cannot be completed, as this course requires a lot of student participation.  There will be a pre-reading assignment and one essay assigned for each book in addition to the weekly study guide assignments.  Students are also encouraged to complete the end-of-book test/overview.  They will need to begin reading and completing the study guide approximately two weeks prior to the first class.  (I can arrange a time to get the class materials to you.)

Keep in mind this is a HIGH SCHOOL class and therefore content may be heavy at times and there is a lot of homework involved.  As mentioned previously, the study guides are written from a Christian perspective, yet the novels sometimes deal with hard topics (including war, death, language, etc).  I handle this sensitively in class and the study guides really help with honing in on what we can learn from these things.

Students in grades 9-12 who are ready for a high school workload will be ready for this class.

Completing two Progeny Press study guides is equivalent to a half credit for high-school students.

*If you would rather print the study guide yourself, I will refund you $9 on the first day of class.

Engineering with Mark Rober

Pre-K Art

Recycled Art (Pre-K & Kindergarten)

Welcome to Recycled Art, where imagination meets sustainability! In this hands-on, creative class, students will learn how to turn everyday recycled, reused, and repurposed materials into amazing works of art. From creating musical instruments to crafting colorful mosaics and paintings, children will explore the endless possibilities of “trash” turned into treasure.

Through fun and interactive projects, kids will develop fine motor skills, learn about the environment, and discover how to see beauty in the world around them. This class encourages creativity, resourcefulness, and the joy of transforming old items into something new and beautiful.

By the end of this class, students will not only have a collection of their own artistic masterpieces but also a deeper appreciation for reusing and recycling, all while having lots of fun along the way!
