Generative AI

This introduction to AI and Generative AI allows students to explore these exciting new technologies.  There is no previous coding or computer science knowledge needed for this class! Students will learn what AI is, the history of AI, and then some common uses of AI in our world today. We will then learn about Generative AI and the basics of this exciting part of Artificial Intelligence. In the class, we will explore chat-based tools like Bing Chat or ChatGPT.  Then, students will learn how to generate images using AI image generators. By practicing our prompt engineering skills, learners will become proficient power users. Finally, students will explore various AI careers and the skills needed to continue learning more.

Class Syllabus

Week 1: What is Artificial Intelligence?, What is Generative AI?, Types of Generative AI, AI in Our World

Week 2: AI Ethics, AI and Christianity

Week 3: Image Generator Introduction, Image Generator Examples, How are Large Language Models Trained or Created, Challenges of Large Language Models

Week 4: Introduction to Prompt Engineering with Bing Chat or ChatGPT, Research and Brainstorm with Prompt Engineering, Generative AI for School and Research, Limitations of Current LLM

Week 5: Prompt Engineering Part 2, Prompt Engineering Practice Questions, Jobs in AI

Every learner is strongly encouraged to post questions, sample code, and their projects every step of the way. This allows students to learn from each other and start practicing reading code. The teacher will also be providing feedback and guidance regularly throughout the course.

Technology Requirements:

Students should have access to a laptop, a tablet/iPad, or a phone. All applications used for this class are web-based and will work with any modern browser such as Edge, Chrome, Safari, or Firefox.

Parental Guidance:

Artificial intelligence, machine learning, and specifically generative AI technologies that will be used for parts of this course can produce a variety of outputs. Sometimes, these outputs may be inappropriate, offensive, or biased in various ways. This is possible while learners are using these technologies during class and also outside of class. There will be a class dedicated to how these issues occur with AI and machine learning projects and what steps can be taken to reduce the possibility of this happening.

After Week 2 class, I will let the kids make a promise letter that they’ll righteously use AI and show that letter to their parents.

Intermediate Band

The intermediate class builds off of the skills we have acquired in our beginning class. Students will continue working with their instrument and furthering their reading ability.  Music theory will be incorporated in a more in depth way. Also, fun songs!.

Intro to Public Speaking

Intro to Public Speaking will be a fun and friendly environment to learn to get up in front of an audience to speak. We will have topics or prompts for each week. As well as go over a valuable skill to working on while presenting.

Dare to Share- learning to share the Gospel

“ SHINE LIKE STARS IN THE UNIVERSE AS YOU HOLD OUT THE WORD OF LIFE “ Philippians 2:15-16

Students will be learning how to Face their Fears, Finding Motivation, Mastering their message, Sharing their story, Engaging their Circle, and continue the conversation about Jesus.  Learning this thru prayer and guidance of the Holy Spirit leading. Becoming disciples who make disciples everywhere they go!

This will be short video teaching, interactive question and answer, role playing class to allow our students to learn and put into practice ways

Line Dancing 2nd 6 weeks

We will spend our class period learning one new line dance each week! No partners required and remind your boys, it’s cool to dance! If it works out, we will try and attend a line dancing night in December or January to use our new skills! Either way, it’ll be fun to just learn!

P.E. (6-9)
